Good morning son.
Sometimes in examining God's word you
find something you did not expect to see - such was the case for me.
In Proverbs 2 a couple of verses leaped
off the page. I wrote them out like I advise you to do and then
started to dissect them. They were verses 1-5 and 6-8.
In 1 - 5 you get a prescription to
receive everything else he lays out in 6-8 and the rest of the
Proverbs. Take out your word and walk with me. vs 1: accept his words
& store up his commands within you OR read and Receive His word
AND memorize scripture (way to store up within you). Vs 2: turn ear
towards wisdom and apply your heart to understanding OR be listening
for what is wise and be ready to figure out why it is wise - kinda
like when you are pointed out by a cop, stopped & questioned and
you have done nothing wrong - wisdom states just answer the questions
calmly - don't bust loose with a comment like "I guess you
crackers got little to do this morning." NO apply your heart to
the understanding that wisdom's dictates will keep you from giving
them more work like taking you into custody for any number of trumped
up reasons.
Wisdom dictates the act, understanding
encourages your acting in accordance with it (wisdom). Vs 3: call out
for insight and cry aloud for understanding OR ask God in prayer for
insight and understanding. Vs 4 look for it (wisdom) and search for
it as for hidden treasure OR study the word.
Don't be afraid to struggle with it.
There is an old country western song which says "dig a lil
deeper in the well boy, dig a little deeper in the well. If you want
a real cool drink of wadda you gotta dig a lil deeper in the well!"
So it is with his word. But the results are well worth the effort!
See vs 6 - 8 there is a transformation which takes place within you -
upright, blameless just and faithful. And with that transformation
comes his promise to give victory, be a shield, guard your journey,
protect you in the way. AWESOME!
I would go on and talk about Psalm 2
and what leaped off the page, what I wrote down. Suffice it to say
that putting Proverbs and Psalms together today you should have no
concern as to what you will face. Psalm reaffirms the kingship of
Christ and His authority over all. Serve and respect Him, rejoice in
trembling awe. Take refuge In Him."The earth is the Lord's and
the fullness thereof. The world and all they that dwell in it!"
Apply the word this day. You, my son, are on the winning team!
Have a great day in the Lord!
Love yah,
dad
